Questions & answers

Everything patients ask before starting treatment

Practical answers about how treatment works, safety, timelines, food restrictions, online consultations and costs. If your question is not here, ask us when you book.

What happens in the first homoeopathic consultation?

The first consultation lasts about 60 minutes. Beyond your main complaint, we go through your medical history, past illnesses and medication, family history, sleep, appetite, digestion, energy levels, temperature preferences, menstrual history where relevant, and how you respond to stress. This detail is not small talk — in homoeopathy the remedy is chosen from the complete individual picture, which is why two patients with the same diagnosis often receive different medicines. Please bring your previous prescriptions and reports.

How long does homoeopathic treatment take to show results?

It depends on how long the problem has existed. Acute complaints such as a cold, fever, acidity or an injury often respond within hours to a few days. Chronic conditions like allergy, eczema, migraine, PCOS or arthritis usually show a first change within three to six weeks, with a treatment course of six to nine months. At the first visit you will be given a realistic timeline for your specific case, along with what we expect to see at each review.

Can I take homoeopathic medicine along with my allopathic medicines?

Yes. Homoeopathic remedies do not interact chemically with conventional medicines, so they can be taken alongside your blood pressure, thyroid, diabetes, asthma or psychiatric medication. We never ask you to stop a prescribed medicine abruptly. Where reducing it becomes possible, it is tapered gradually, guided by your symptoms and reports, and in coordination with the doctor who prescribed it.

Are homoeopathic medicines safe? Do they have side effects?

Homoeopathic remedies are highly diluted and are free of steroids, antibiotics and sedatives. They are safe in pregnancy, in infancy and in the elderly, and they do not cause drowsiness, dependence or organ damage.

Do I need to follow any food restrictions during treatment?

The traditional long list of forbidden foods is largely unnecessary. Practically, keep a gap of about 15 minutes between food or drink and your medicine, and avoid strong flavours like raw onion, garlic, coffee or mint right around the dose. Beyond that, we give diet advice specific to your condition — for acidity, PCOS, arthritis or skin problems, for example — rather than a blanket list.

Is online consultation available?

Yes. Video consultations can be arranged for follow-ups and for patients outside Bengaluru — message the clinic on WhatsApp to fix a time. Medicines can be couriered. For a first consultation involving a skin condition, a joint complaint or anything needing examination, an in-clinic visit is better, and we will tell you if that applies to you.

How often do I need to come for follow-up?

Typically once every three to four weeks for a chronic condition, and sooner for an acute illness. Follow-ups take about 10 minutes. They matter more than most patients expect: the remedy and potency are refined at each visit based on how you have responded, and treatment that skips follow-ups usually stalls.

Will I need blood tests or scans?

Sometimes, yes. If your case suggests a thyroid problem, anaemia, vitamin deficiency, PCOS, diabetes, an autoimmune condition or a stone, we will ask for the relevant tests so that treatment rests on facts rather than guesses. Existing reports are always welcome — bring whatever you have. We do not order tests unnecessarily and we do not run a laboratory, so there is no incentive to over-test.

Is homoeopathy suitable for children and pregnant women?

Both groups do well with homoeopathy, which is one of the reasons families choose it. Remedies are sweet, given in tiny doses, and free of the side effects that make repeated antibiotics and painkillers a concern in children and in pregnancy. Doses are adjusted for age, and we always refer to a paediatrician or obstetrician when a situation calls for it.

What does a consultation cost?

Please call or message the clinic for current consultation and medicine charges — we keep them deliberately simple, with no packages and no long-term prepaid plans. Cash and UPI are accepted.

Where is the clinic and how do I reach it?

The clinic is in Whitefield, Bengaluru — First Floor, Vayyas Infine, Whistling Palms, ECC Road, Pattandur Agrahara, 560066. It is convenient for Whitefield, Hoodi, Kadugodi, Brookefield, ITPL, Hope Farm and Varthur. Use the 'Get directions' link on the contact page to open the exact pin in Google Maps. Street parking is available.

Can homoeopathy help in an emergency?

No, and it should not be tried. Chest pain, breathlessness, severe bleeding, a high fever with drowsiness, seizures, stroke symptoms, a serious injury or a sick infant need emergency hospital care immediately. Homoeopathy is for acute and chronic illness management, not for emergencies — please go to the nearest hospital first and see us afterwards.

Ready to start treatment that looks at the whole picture?

Pick a time that suits you and come in with your reports. If homoeopathy is not the right answer for your problem, you will be told at the first visit.

In an emergency — chest pain, breathlessness, severe bleeding, seizures or a very sick infant — please go to the nearest hospital immediately rather than waiting for an appointment at Ujjivan Homoeopathy.
